“Man is not a being who stands still, he is a being in the process of becoming. The more he enables himself to become, the more he fulfils his true mission” ~ Rudolph Steiner

Ontological Coaching

The Ontological methodology draws on a combination of Philosophy and Biology and emphasises that the individual is a free and responsible agent who has the capacity to shape their own development.

The stories we tell ourselves create our world: in business, in relationships, in health and in every facet of our experience. As an Ontological Coach, Karen helps clients to uncover their personal stories and beliefs by encouraging curiosity, learning and discovery about their “way of being” in the world.

The way we understand and make sense of the world and ourselves happens through the active relationship between these three domains:

(a) language (how we use language to create reality),
(b) moods and emotions (the emotional spaces we speak and take action from),
(c) body (how we hold our body and take care of it)

Karen works with each client to facilitate a shift in their way of being – to bring about helpful changes in all three domains, in the direction the client wants to go. This ontological ‘shift’ (registered in the nervous system) allows the client to perceive the world and behave in ways that weren’t perhaps available to them before.

What distinguishes Ontological Coaching from other forms of coaching is that the coach and client partner together to bring about beneficial shifts in these three domains. Karen views this partnership as an ongoing commitment and the paths she invites clients to walk with her are ones she has explored herself.

Ontological Coaching is a powerful methodology for effecting change for individuals, teams and organisations.
